Tahitian Pearls

Tahitian Pearls

There are 4 distinct types of pearls in the world:

  1. Akoya Pearls
  2. Fresh water or cultured Pearls
  3. Tahitian Pearls
  4. South Sea Pearls

This is the second collection we have released and we have never been more excited. We love the sleek and sophisticated black modern look and I think you will too.

Tahitian Pearls or “black pearl’ get their name from the famous Tahiti Island and are farmed from the equally famous Black-lip oyster. A true black Tahitian pearl is extremely rare, and largely considered one of the most beautiful pearls in the world. Although Tahitian pearls carry the name of the famous island, Tahitian pearls due to their high demand are now cultivated around the world in places like the Cook Islands, Micronesian Islands, Japan, Thailand, and the Philippines, however, only those grown in the beautiful warm waters of the French Polynesia may be called true Tahitian pearls. These rare gems are among the largest pearls in the world, surpassed only by the South Sea pearl.
